Computer Networking and Systems Administration

We provide you the hands-on learning that in a short period of time will help you prepare for an exciting career in the fast paced IT field. You will learn how to set up and manage computer networks and systems to get a good paying job after graduation.

Our department offers two A.A.S. degrees along with two Certificate of Completion programs:

CNS A.A.S.

A generalized degree program, the CNS degree plan offers students coursework in all of the major network operating systems. We are a regional Cisco Networking Academy offering CCNA and other coursework. The students learn every aspect of computer networking from the ground up. They learn everything from how to build the cables that transmit data accross the network along with how the data travels accross the network. The students also learn how to set up and maintain computer networks which includes installing the operating systems, creating user accounts, and keeping the network running smoothly on a day-to-day-basis.

CNS "Fast Track" Certificate

The "Fast Track" certificate is designed for those that want to learn the basic networking skills in the shortest period of time. This program can be completed in as little as three semesters.

Microsoft A.A.S.

The Microsoft Specialization A.A.S. degree plan includes less coursework on other operating systems, and emphasis is placed on advanced topics related to Microsoft's operating systems. We are a Microsoft Certified Partner, and are a part of the Microsoft Software Development Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA). Our membership allows students to take Microsoft certification examinations at a largely discounted rate. Additionally, enrolled students gain access to no cost software for educational purposes. (Free access to Microsoft software does not apply to the Microsoft Office software suite.)

Microsoft Certificate

We offer an advanced Microsoft certificate which focuses on the same major advanced Microsoft topics as the Microsoft A.A.S. degree. This program is designed for those that already have a degree in the Information Technology field or have several years experience.

All associate degrees include four courses in Cisco Systems Networking with emphasis on router and switch configuration. These courses cover all of the material needed for the student to achieve the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
