I'm not at TSTC this semester. If you have questions or need assistance please call the department.

If you need to see me I highly recommend you call Dottie at 254-867-4831 to make sure I will be able to see you.  With my schedule and recruiting, I'm often out of the office and do NOT want you to be frustrated further by showing up and I'm not available to see you.

Semester credit hour classes, I teach to TSTC Waco students are:
ITCC 1302: LAN Design and Protocols

CCNA 1.  This is the first class (of four sequential classes) in the Cisco Networking Academy Program leading toward your Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. This class will cover basic theories in Networking and signaling.  I highly recommend you finish this class then take your CompTIA Network + certification. You had better learn your binary, hexadecimal, IP addressing and standard subnet masking here!

ITCC 1306: Basic Router Configuration

CCNA2.  This is the second semester of the CCNA program. In this class you will learn to configure routers for an operational environment using RIP v1 and RIP v2 open standard routing protocols and IGRP, Cisco's distance vector routing protocol. You will need to have mastered traditional IP subnet masking by the end of this semester, since we will be throwing in Access Control Lists.

ITCC 1342: LAN Management

CCNA3. This is the third course in the Cisco Networking Academy CCNA program. In this class we cover Variable Length Subnet Masking (VLSM), Switches, VLANs, as well as single area Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and Cisco's EIGRP routing protocols. You will have to configure routers and switches to allow dissimilar networks to communicate with each other.

ITCC 1346: WAN Management

CCNA4, is the fourth and final classes preparing students for the prestigious CCNA exam. We cover the various types of Wide Area Network layer two encapsulations and technologies such as Frame Relay, ISDN, HDLC and PAP.

ITSC 1309: Integrated Software Applications

This class serves as our introduction to computer literacy and prepares the student to be competent in the use of the productivity software such as word-processors, spreadsheets, presentation managers, as well as user-level competency with web browsers and email clients. Students in my classes have to opportunity to "get under the hood" and explore the inner workings of a computer as well as client-side databases. I use my business and consulting experiences so the student are exposed to real world situations and industry best practices. If you are examining this course for college transfer of credit you will be interested to know this course is the equivalent of COSC 1301 or 1401 at other Texas two-year colleges.

TCP/IP is a collection of networking protocols and services used by all     systems on the internet and over 98% of the world's Local Area Networks (LAN). Most folks think this protocol suite only deals with logical addr4essing and routing but it does so much more!!! In this class we cover a bit of the history and organizations that affect the protocol suite, spend a lot of time on addressing, subnetting, and how the protocol suite identifies packets and segments. We'll also cover how the TCP/IP works with lower layer protocols and basic services offered through this protocol suite that are available to all of us. We'll work with the latest version of Internet protocol-version six and discuss how to secure TCP/IP environments.

ITSC 1309: Program Logic and Design

Computers (like people) need instructions to operate. These instructions must be structured in a sequence to operate properly. This course focuses on learning the logical structure.  This class is designed to the structure of programs and not to teach a programming language.  Once you are intimately familiar with structures used in programming you will need to learn the language. At the present time I am not teaching this class but am restructuring it to use C++ instead of Quick Basic.  If you have any questions about this class you will need to email me.

Tech-Prep

Tech Prep may not be a college semester credit class - but it is a great way for students to earn college credits while still in high school!  Many courses taught in our high schools are eligible for tech-prep consideration. If you have a Tech-Prep question there are several people here at TSTC Waco who can answer your questions.
